Canterbury Under 19 Team on Track for National Finals

The Canterbury Under 19 team will make their last home town appearance today, as they take on Otago in their final South Island Qualification fixture, at Rugby Park, at 1pm.
The Canterbury U19 team, captained by loose forward Elia Elia (pictured), have made positive first steps towards the Jock Hobbs Memorial National Under 19 Tournament Finals, to be held later this month. They played their first game of the qualifying tournament in Invercargill on September 5th, beating Southland convincingly, 71-10.
They had a tougher test against Tasman last weekend at Christchurch Park, but managed to secure a good 29-5 win, and obtaining the crucial 4th try bonus point. Their results from their three Southern Qualification fixtures decide their placment going into The Jock Hobbs Memorial National U19 Tournamentm to be held in Taupo from 27 September to 3 October.
Canterbury were finalists in the 2014 Tournament, losing to strong Wellington side in the final.
Today's fixture against their Southern foes Otago at Rugby Park, is expected to be their toughest test thus far, this season. Kick off is 1pm.
